Prophecy of Muhammad in the Bible

Recently, Pope quoted a fourteen-century Byzantine Emperor’s comment on Islamic Prophet Muhammad during a speech on interfaith dialogue in a German university. It has caused great anger among Muslims worldwide in the past week. Although Pope said this comment did not reflect his own opinion and he was “deeply sorry” about the reaction about his remark, the tension between Muslims and Christians continuously build up, and in many places of the Muslim world, large protests were held to demand more apology from Pope Benedict. Some people even had more extreme demands.

The cause of this problem is most Christians lack of knowledge on the prophethood of Islamic prophet Muhammad. There is actually a prophecy of Muhammad in the Bible’s Book of Revelation. Most people thought that the Book of Revelation is about the disasters in the End Time, but actually these prophecies are about the major historical events in Christian history. In Revelation Chapter 6, St. John was shown a vision of four riders on different colored horses, which represent four major historical period and historical events in Christian history.

The first rider on a white horse who “was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.” (Revelation 6:2). This vision prophesied the rising of Christianity to the power after the Roman King Constantine established Christianity as a State Religion. Ever since then, Christianity never lost power in Europe and eventually spread through the world and became the largest religion in the world. And then there is second rider on a red horse who “was given a large sword” to “take peace from the earth” (Revelation 6:3-4), which prophesied the rising of Islam which use sword to preach its faith. It also indicates the future conflicts and wars between Christians and Muslims. That Second Rider is referred to the Islamic prophet of Muhammad. As most Christians don’t understand the meaning of prophecies in the Book of Revelation, they don’t accept the role of Muhammad as a prophet of God for the children of Ishmael. But if you compare Muhammad to Moses, they are like a mirror image of each other. They both used the revelation of God to establish their religion, their government, their army and their laws. And they both used forces to accomplish their mission for God. You can’t accept one while denounce the other. They are both the prophets of God, one for the children of Isaac and one for the children of Ishmael. As God had promised several times in Genesis to make Ishmael into a great nation (Genesis 17:20, 21:18), Muhammad fulfilled the promise of God to unite all Arabs into a great empire.

Pope Benedict has great intension to have interfaith dialogue with Muslims, but without understanding the prophecy of God in the Book of Revelation, his effort would not bear much fruitful results. That’s why God gave this New Millennium Testament to reveal the complete picture of the Word of God for both East and West. That’s the foundation for all interfaith dialogues and for all people of God to build a heaven on earth for the New Era of Peace & Wisdom.
